about

WIP is a continual work informed by pandemic limitations, collective memory and telepathic inclinations. The instructions are simple: starting at the same time, playing for 30 minutes, in separate apartments, without a predetermined plan, and without hearing each other. Each session is recorded individually, with varying levels of recording equipment (session 5 was recorded on mobile phones). The recordings are then added together and synched based on each musicians indication of a starting point.

Lana trio was founded in 2007, while the three of us went to school together. This group has always been more focused on unlocking new possibilities for playing together (rather than necessarily reaching something "new" in a historical sense), and we hope this casually experimental project will lead to just that. At the same time, and perhaps more importantly, it continues to be a good excuse for us to make music together, in a year with no planned activity, due to the birth of Kjetil's triplet girls last fall, and other (lesser) commitments.

And talking about triplets..., we are happy to feature guest appearances by Eivor, Iben and Turid on several of these sessions (voice, percussion, piano..!)

((More music will be added to this album later on))
